Political Issues: Veterans

Summary

A veteran is a person who has or is serving in the armed forces, a war veteran, or a person who has had long service or experience in an occupation or office. Military veterans often receive special treatment in their respective countries due to the sacrifices they made during wars. Veterans are also subject to illnesses directly related to their military service such as PTSD. PresidentialElection.com is a proud supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project and encourages people to give to their cause.

Veterans of the United States armed forces may be eligible for a broad range of programs and services provided by the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Eligibility for most VA benefits is based upon discharge from active military service under other than dishonorable conditions, and certain benefits require service during wartime. If you are new to the VA, the Federal Benefits for Veterans, Dependents and Survivors booklet will help you get started.
