Abraham Lincoln Civil War signed military commission document as President. Signed with full “Abraham Lincoln” signature. Two decorative war vignettes. Vellum document measures 15 x 19 inches and retains its original paper blue seal at left. Significant wear to document, including missing parts and full-length tear repaired with tape. Full signature itself is in very good condition affected only by creases and fading to Abraham. Commission is conferred on John H. Howe to the rank of Corporal as of the 26th day of January 1865. Also signed by Edwin Stanton (damaged)……. as Secretary of War and E.D. Townsend as Acting Adj. Gen’l. of the Army.
